Prior to submitting the planning application for the proposed Earba Pumped Storage Hydro Scheme, a number of trial pits and boreholes are being undertaken at the Earba site this Summer.

The locations of these exploratory holes are shown on the map below.

There will also be peat probing and geophysics works carried out across the site at the same time as the exploratory work.
The purpose of these exploratory works is to understand the ground conditions across the site. With a better knowledge of the soil and rock profiles, the main structures such as the dams and powerhouse can be positioned accurately on the planning drawings. Furthermore, the ground investigation data will mean that the construction methodology can be better described as there will be a better understanding of the different types of material that will be excavated.
We aim to keep any disturbance to a minimum and all exploratory excavations will be fully reinstated, but should you have any concerns or require any further information please contact info@gilkesenergy.com.
